By replacing the thin layer of air between the LCD panel and the front glass with a specially-formulated dark resin, reflections are minimised and contrast and brightness are increased. Sony's latest Motionflow™ technology utilises all the features that made its predecessors industry leaders in motion blur reduction, as well as a few new advances. These include a 4-times speed play which inserts 3 additional frames between images, and a choice of "Clear" or "Clear Plus" mode which uses a line scan method to reduce blur and shortens the apparent response time of the liquid crystal respectively.
